Capitol City Rifle Club THE MOST COMPLETE SHOOTING CLUB IN CENTRAL MICHIGAN Hunters Page
2006 Season
Emily Ropp, 12, took her first deer one-half hour into the first day of the youth hunt during firearms deer season 2006. She used a Harrington & Richardson 20 gauge Ultra Hunter at 60 yards and made a perfect shot to take this 8-pointer. She then helped skin, butcher, and package the deer for the family's freezer. She took her Hunter Safety class at the Free United Methodist Church in Williamston.
On Sept. 17, 2006, Alex "Babe" Basford went on her first duck hunt in Remus, MI, with her friend Kyle Cook and his father Roger. Later that same afternoon, they went to Dunn Creek in Laingsburg for a free kids' pheasant hunt put on by Pheasants Forever, where Alex shot her first pheasant. She went through lots of shells trying both for duck and pheasant. Bill Brake, Pheasants Forever Michigan President, coordinated the event and did an excellent job. They provided a nice lunch, a drawing for a .410 shotgun, and a pheasant mount.
