“Frozen Chosin” High Power Match

The Frozen Chosin High Power Match is held to commemorate the fight of the 1st Division Marines
from the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. The cold weather of December will be a reminder
of the bitter conditions of that battle where the Chinese enemy had greater troop strength,
excellent spirit and training, and good supplies for the weather. The U.S. Marines facing them
were outnumbered, facing a fierce and competent foe, and had not been
properly supplied with winter gear.

RULES:

This match is restricted to two U.S. weapons used by the Marines in that fight: the U.S. M1 Garand Rifle,
and the U.S. cal. 30 M1 Carbine.  The U.S. M1 Garand Rifles Models C and D, while used,
are not allowed in the match. Both permitted weapons must be in as-issued condition.
Participants will use club-issued ammunition. No shooting coats or gloves will be allowed.
No alibis will be permitted during this event. Awards will be presented for Gold, Silver,
Bronze, and Copper for overall scores.

COURSE OF FIRE:

All shots will be fired at 200 yards on standard U.S. 200 yard targets. Prone: 4 sighter shots
and 4 shots for record in 4 minutes. Timed Prone: 16 shots, without sighters, in 2 minutes.
Timed Sitting: 16 shots, without sighters, in 2 minutes. Timed Kneeling: 16 shots without sighters,
in 2 minutes. Rattle Battle: 16 shots, without sighters, in 50 seconds.

TIME:

Registration starts at 9:00 am, with walk-in registration available if there are enough
open spaces on the line. The match will begin at 10:00 am.

MATCH FEE:

$35, which includes a commemorative T-shirt, all ammunition, and a hot lunch.

Make checks payable to Capitol City Rifle Club (or CCRC).
